That time I made a Minecraft Cake

So I don't put myself in any category with professionals when it comes to baking. I'm a mom. I'm a mom who likes to make things, a mom who wants to save money, and a mom who wants to make birthdays special.  Noah and I looked on Pinterest together and he chose this GORGEOUS Minecraft cake that there is no way in God's green earth that I could possibly make myself. You know the million pieced of fondant, all measured perfectly kind. I just nodded and said, "Well, okay Noah, I'll see what I can do."  Knowing full well that our budget for this birthday was a lot less that $500 and I'm not going to spend much on trying to get a professional to do it, that I figured okay, what can I do?  So, I do know how to make butter cream, I do know how to add food coloring, and I can make a mean box cake, haha. So, that's what I did.  3 layers of box cake, homemade butter cream, added some crushed Oreos for dramatic affect! I bought some Craftable Mine Craft characters for $6 each at Party City, and Noah helped me construct those.  I was happy with how it turned out and didn't break the bank! Most of it was even eaten at the party...that is a win win in my book. Most of all, I had a happy 6 year old, and that's what it's all about anyway right? :) Any of you mamas out there can do it too....Go for it!
